Obama plans to remove all troops by August 2010
According to the Associated Press today, administration officials revealed that President Obama plans to remove "all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by August 2010", although the withdrawal plan has not been officially announced yet. A senior White House official stated that Obama is, quoting the AP report, "at least a day away from making a final decision."
During his campaign, Obama had promised to remove all troops 16 months after taking office.
In the current official agreement between the U.S. and Iraq, the complete withdrawal of American forces must take place by December 2011.
As in the previous agreement, if President Obama's troop withdrawal plan goes through as a matter of course, and withdrawal therefore attributed to the success of the plan itself, then we can know with certainty that the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq is not the fulfillment of the prophecy of doom on Babylon as described in Jeremiah 50-51 in the bible.
The reason is, the prophecy attributes the withdrawal of the occupying forces to the failure of reconstruction, and an admittance by the occupiers that they must simply abandon Babylon. It is because of "the fire" -- the burning of the cities -- that they have become exhausted with occupation.
We now have a timetable for proving the prophecy -- August 2010. January 16th, 2010 will mark the 3 year anniversary of the execution of Saddam Hussein, the last event to have been fulfilled in the nine major milestones of judgment on the land of the Chaldeans. First was the invasion and defeat at the hands of a great king and many nations, next was the occupation, then came the punishment of the arrogant one.
Next up is the burning, then the abandonment, then war with and defeat by the Medes (Kurds) and their plundering of the treasures, then the flood, then the drought. The final judgment on Babylon -- complete desolation.
