Fresh wave of militant bombings kill 26

CP24.com of Toronto, Canada published a report today from TEHRAN, Iran, written by Sameer N. Yacoub of the Associated Press that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will "continue to provide Baghdad with military advisers and weapons" in the face of continued attacks in an "escalating Sunni insurgency."

A string of bombings in and near Baghdad killed 26 people on Tuesday, including a double car bomb explosion at Habaybina restaurant in a Shiite-majority district in eastern Baghdad which killed 15 and wounded 32 others.

42 people were killed on Monday, as militants "unleashed a wave of deadly attacks on Iraq's majority Shiite community."

The Huffington Post published an AP article by Sinan Salaheddin from Baghdad reporting a wave of ISIS attacks targeting Baghdad last Thursday, October 16, 2014, in which at least 50 people were killed and dozens injured.

According to the article, the Islamic State group "has overrun vast areas in western and northern Iraq as well as parts of neighboring Syria, and has vowed to destabilize and eventually take over Baghdad."

Thursday's explosions had brought the death toll from attacks since the preceding Sunday to at least 162 people, mostly in Baghdad, according to an Associated Press tally, the report concluded.

If Islamic State militants take over Iraq, the Kurds of Kurdistan will have no choice but to break free from Iraq, and their new nation will inherit an immediate, barbaric enemy state on their southern border.  The war between the Medes and the Chaldeans prophesied by Jeremiah will be inevitable.

ISIS forces launch multiple attacks on Kurdish territory in Iraq, officials say

CNN's Brian Walker reported Monday, October 20, 2014 that ISIS militants launched about 15 near-simultaneous attacks on Kurdish forces in northern Iraq on Monday in what Kurdish government officials and the news agency Rudaw said was a fierce and renewed push for territory.

ISIS also launched attacks against Mosul Dam and renewed its offensive on the Sinjar mountain range in northern Iraq.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military is airdropping weapons, ammunition and medical aid to the Kurds fighting against ISIS in Kobani, and Turkey has agreed to allow Iraqi Peshmerga to cross into Syria to defend the city.

The battle between ISIS and the Kurds is providing the Peshmerga with modern fighting experience, which will come in to play should the current events in Iraq prove to be the fulfillment of Jeremiah's prophecy of doom on the land of Babylon. According to his prophecy, the spirit of the kings of the Medes -- today the Kurds of Kurdistan -- would rise up, and those people would become a "great nation" formed out of three factions -- Iranian (Minni/Manneaean), Iraqi (Ashkenaz/Adiabene) and Turkish/Syrian (Ararat) -- capable of attacking and defeating the army of the Chaldeans.

With the Iraqi Kurds now joining the fight in Kobani to assist the Syrian Kurds, will it be long before the three factions are joined into one, just as Jeremiah foresaw?

If ISIS is victorious in overcoming the Iraqi military and taking over rule in Iraq, they will become the army of Iraq, and the battle described by Jeremiah would be between the Kurds and ISIS-controlled Iraq, a repeat of the current conflict happening in northeastern Syria and northern Iraq today.

In Jeremiah's vision, the Kurds will soundly defeat the Iraqi army, and plunder her treasures.

Will we soon see this major battle occurring in the land of Babylon in fulfillment of the 2,600-year-old prophecy?

Kurds push back in Kobane

UK's Daily Mail Online report of October 17, 2014 is headlined, "'We've reduced ISIS to just two pockets of hold-outs' boast Kurds after bloody fightback to stop fanatics taking control of border town of Kobane."
Power: Smoke rises in Kobane after a U.S. airstrike destroys an ISIS-held building. The extremists have now abandoned all of their positions in the city, except for two small pockets of resistance in the east

The article by John Hall notes the "remarkable fightback" by Kurdish troops, "assisted by U.S. and Arab airstrikes," has allowed the Kurds to "reclaim" the besieged city, reporting that "Islamic State militants have been almost entirely driven out of the Syrian city of Kobane following a remarkable fightback by Kurdish forces who vowed to either defeat the terrorists or die trying."

Hall noted that "Turkish and U.S. officials last week said that ISIS was on the verge of taking Kobane from its heavily outgunned Kurdish defenders after seizing strategic points deep inside the town."

Jeremiah the hebrew prophet foresaw the rise of the Medes -- today the Kurds of Kurdistan -- as a military power capable of invading and capturing "the land of Babylon" in the sixth of nine judgments. With the experience and successes of the Kurdish forces against the Islamic State, the possibility of this rise seems less and less remote.

Turkey's fear of a reignited Kurdish flame

Supporters of the Kurdish fighters in Kobane clash with police on the streets of Istanbul
Mark Lowen reports for BBC News from Istanbul, Turkey October 8, 2014 that protests in Turkey reflect a reignited Kurdish anger towards the Turkish government after Ankara refused to engage Islamic State fighters who are assaulting Kurdish villages along the border with Syria.

"Troops on the streets, curfews for the first time in 22 years, protests in almost 30 cities and state buildings attacked - the situation is dangerous and escalating fast," writes Lowen

Protesters are "furious" that Turkish troops are blocking Turkish Kurds from crossing into Syria to help defend Kobane against Islamic State militants.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly refused to budge from his position that the PKK, a regional Kurdish rebel organization, is no different than the Islamic State rebels, enraging the Turkish Kurds.

Jeremiah the hebrew prophet saw the rise of the "spirit of the kings of the Medes," an ethnic group that today is associated with the Kurds of Kurdistan, to a prominence and military power capable of attacking Iraq, defeating her army and plundering her treasures.

Three regional groups of Medes are seen in the prophecy: Minni (Manneaens), Ashkenaz (Adiabenes), and Ararat (eastern Syria/Turkey). These three regions reflect the three regions of modern-day Kurdistan: the Iranian, Iraqi and Syrian/Turkish areas occupied by the Kurds.

The Iranian and Iraqi Kurds have united under the flag of the Kurdistan Regional Government in northern Iraq. What is missing from the coalition is the Syrian/Turkish Kurds.

With these renewed protests in Turkey, and the fighting between Syrian Kurds and the Islamic State militants, will we soon see the uniting of the KRG with the Syrian/Turkish Kurds, so as to create a new, more powerful Kurdish state, and the fulfillment of the 2,600 year-old prophecy?

Jeremiah the prophet predicted that the invaders who occupied the land of Babylon, having broken her, would attempt to heal her, but then, because of fires in the cities, would give up, and abandon the nation to her judgment.
When the United States and other coalition forces pulled out of Iraq, it seemed this part of the prophecy would not be able to be fulfilled, since the prophesied abandonment would be announced as a failure at reconstruction. The pull out of 2011 was not framed in those terms, but was seen as a success at putting down rebellion and establishing a quasi-peace, along with a stable local government.
But now we see that the possibility of this abandonment judgment is once again restored, as a coalition of nations, led by a "great nation," have once again entered Iraq in an attempt to save her from destruction by insurgents attempting to conquer her.
If the cities of Iraq are set on fire, with the result the nations becoming "exhausted" with the futility of trying to "heal" her, and subsequently an announced abandonment of Iraq, then the next two judgments will have occurred in their order, fulfilling the first five prophecies of judgment on the land of Babylon -- invasion, capture, punishment, burning and abandonment.
With that, the certainty of the fulfillment of the final four judgments -- war with and defeat by the Medes, plunder, flood and drought leading to utter desolation -- will be assured.
