Fresh wave of militant bombings kill 26

CP24.com of Toronto, Canada published a report today from TEHRAN, Iran, written by Sameer N. Yacoub of the Associated Press that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will "continue to provide Baghdad with military advisers and weapons" in the face of continued attacks in an "escalating Sunni insurgency."

A string of bombings in and near Baghdad killed 26 people on Tuesday, including a double car bomb explosion at Habaybina restaurant in a Shiite-majority district in eastern Baghdad which killed 15 and wounded 32 others.

42 people were killed on Monday, as militants "unleashed a wave of deadly attacks on Iraq's majority Shiite community."

The Huffington Post published an AP article by Sinan Salaheddin from Baghdad reporting a wave of ISIS attacks targeting Baghdad last Thursday, October 16, 2014, in which at least 50 people were killed and dozens injured.

According to the article, the Islamic State group "has overrun vast areas in western and northern Iraq as well as parts of neighboring Syria, and has vowed to destabilize and eventually take over Baghdad."

Thursday's explosions had brought the death toll from attacks since the preceding Sunday to at least 162 people, mostly in Baghdad, according to an Associated Press tally, the report concluded.

If Islamic State militants take over Iraq, the Kurds of Kurdistan will have no choice but to break free from Iraq, and their new nation will inherit an immediate, barbaric enemy state on their southern border.  The war between the Medes and the Chaldeans prophesied by Jeremiah will be inevitable.

Peshmerga forces to unify

In an August 25, 2014 article by Nawzad Mahmoud published online at Kurdish news outlet Rudaw.net dateline SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region, Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani was reported to have ordered Peshmerga forces to restructure themselves under a single, unified command.

Problems ranged from shortcomings in clothing and food, but that the main issue was far more serious. Photo: AFP
Peshmerga forces faced shortcomings in clothing and food, but a lack of unified command posed a far more serious problem.  Photo: AFP
Historically, the Peshmerga represents a collection of local militia forces organized by the various political parties, with loyalties to the party leaders rather than to the central government. This reform is a major shift in the command structure, that will allow the Peshmerga to operate as a national military with the president of Kurdistan functioning as the commander in chief.

Jeremiah's prophecy sees the "Medes" -- the modern-day Kurds -- as becoming a "great nation" to the north of the land of Babylon, capable of mounting a serious military offensive that results in the overwhelming defeat of the Iraqi army and a plundering of the "treasures" of Babylon.

With the unification of the Peshmerga forces under a central government command structure, the ability to organize them into a serious military threat becomes much more plausible. Will this lead to the fulfillment of Jeremiah's prophecy in our time?

Australia's air force will join an international operation to supply weapons to Kurdish fighters in northern Iraq over the next few days.

The weapons, which reportedly include rocket-propelled grenades and mortars, are intended to aid the Peshmerga fighters of the troubled nation's north as they battle to stem the advance of Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant militants.

The coalition of nations now supplying the Kurds with weapons and ammunition to battle against Islamic State jihadists in Iraq grows to include the central government of Iraq, the United States, Great Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Iran... and now Australia.

At some point, it would seem the Peshmerga militia of the Kurdistan Regional Government will have become a substantial and well-equipped army.

Just as foreseen by Jeremiah the hebrew prophet. A "great nation" to the north of the "land of Babylon" capable of drawing up "battle lines" against her, attacking and defeating her, and then plundering her "treasures."

Will this massive arms infusion lead to the Kurds developing into the mighty fighting force able to fulfill Jeremiah's prophecy?

The New York Times: US should recognize all Kurds as allies

In an opinion piece by Aliza Marcus and Andrew Apostolou in The New York Times from August 18, 2014, the authors assert that President Obama should "rethink America's policy toward Kurdish nationalism, and recognize the Kurds, and not only Iraqi ones, are his main ally against ISIS."

Marcus and Apostolou claim the current borders are obsolete, and that Kurds from not only Iraq's Kurdistan region are engaged in the fight against the Islamic State insurgents, but also Kurds from Syria and Turkey. Alone, the Iraqi Kurds will be unable to deliver a victory, but by providing assistance also to Syrian and Turkish Kurds in their fight against ISIS, victory over the radical Islamic militants may be much more attainable.

Jeremiah foresaw the rise of the "spirit of the kings of the Medes" and the formation of a horde of great peoples into a "nation of the north" capable of "draw(ing) up battle lines" against the land of Babylon, engaging it in war, defeating its armies and plundering its treasures.

The Medes are known today as the Kurds of Kurdistan. Jeremiah saw three regions of Medes joining into this new nation: "Ararat, Minni and Askenaz." Minni and Ashkenaz would be better translated as the Mannaeans and the Adiabenes, references to the lands of the ancient tribes preceding and overrun by the Medes. These ancient tribes lived in and ruled over what is now westernmost Iran south of Lake Urmia, with a capital at Izirtu (Zirta), and northeasternmost Iraq, or Upper Mesopotamia, with a capital in Arbil (Erbil), areas now inhabited primarily by Kurds.

Iranian and Iraqi Kurds had until just two decades ago been at odds with each other, even engaged in tribal warfare. That changed with Saddam Hussein's campaign of terror and genocide on the Kurds, precipitating the two factions joining forces and political strategies to resist the dictator's attacks. The two have since joined to co-rule the democratically-inclined and capitalistic-leaning Kurdistan Regional Government, a semi-autonomous region in northern Iraq, that may soon declare its independence from the Iraqi central government.

Ararat refers to the region of eastern Turkey and northeastern Syria, where the Kurds have been led by a completely different political force, will and goal from their eastern brethren. Many of these Kurds align with the political and insurrectionist leanings of the Marxist Kurd rebel Abdullah Ocalan, now a prisoner of Turkey.

With the conflict raging today, the threat of the Islamic State militants spread across Syria and into Iraq, the "Ararat" Kurds may find themselves thrust into circumstances where they cannot avoid joining in some sort of alliance with the "Minni" and "Ashkenaz" -- the Iranian and Iraqi -- Kurds.

If this alliance coalesces, the fulfillment of the prophecy of Jeremiah that these three nations will join into a "great nation" of the north will have occurred, and the stage set for an Iraqi-Median war in which the Medes defeat and plunder the land of Babylon in a God-decreed judgment.

Kurdish Iraqi fighters took back much of a strategic dam in northern Iraq as the United States stepped up its bombardment of Islamic militant positions in the region, Kurdish officials said Sunday. [...]

Kurds on Sunday also took back several towns and villages from the militants, including Tel Skuf, according to news reports in Iraq. [...]

Kurdish fighters, who retreated this month in the face of the extremist advance, have said they are outgunned by the Islamic State fighters. Kurdish authorities have requested additional arms, including heavy weapons, from the United States and Europe.

Canada and Germany to aid Kurds

A The Canadian Press article at ctvnews.ca by Murray Brewster published today, August 15, 2014, dateline OTTAWA, asserts that Canada will begin shuttling weapons to Kurdish forces in Iraq to help defend against the "barbarous attacks" of radical jihadists with the Islamic State insurgency.

According to the article, at least "one defence analyst says Canada should be prepared to follow Britian's lead" by dispatching Chinook helicopters to help allied nations deliver relief supplies.

Brewster also asserts that "Germany is also preparing to send military aid."

There seems to be a swelling consensus to offer military aid to Kurdistan now, in their fight against the Islamic State.

If IS conquers Baghdad, Iraq will become the Islamic State, and Kurdistan will find it is the neighbor to the north of a radicalized, brutal, militant, terror nation.

In that case, the war between the Medes and the Chaldeans that Jeremiah prophesied will be a war between Kurdistan and the vicious Islamic State of Iraq.

The Medes win. And then plunder.

Will the military arming of the Kurds by the allied nations today help to bring this victory about?

First, though, we must see the burning of the cities of Babylon, then an announced abandonment of Babylon by the occupying reconstructionists. When those two events occur, we have really, truly conclusive proof that the Jeremiah prophecy of doom on Babylon is occurring here in our time, leading to the utter desolation of that land.

US officials say they are not currently considering providing Kurdish forces... with missiles, armored vehicles or helicopters. [...]

Iraq arms Kurds against ISIS

WASHINGTON, Aug 8 (Reuters) - The Iraqi government provided a planeload of ammunition to Peshmerga fighters from Iraq's semiautonomous Kurdish region on Friday, a U.S. official said, in an unprecedented act of military cooperation between Kurdish and Iraqi forces brought on by an acute militant threat.

Jeremiah foresaw the rise of the "spirit of the kings of the Medes" -- a people group now known by the name "Kurd" -- so as to become a "great nation" to the "north" of the "land of the Chaldeans", capable of "draw(ing) up battle lines" against "Babylon", attacking her, defeating her army, and "plunder(ing) her treasures."

For centuries, if not millennia, the Kurds were an oppressed, poverty-striken people who did not even have a country to call their own. Only in the last decade, since the invasion of Iraq by the coalition of nations led by the United States, have the Kurds been able to build a nation-state. But since that time, an amazing transformation has taken place, with oil-wealth and a western mentality driving the progress and building of the Kurdistan region, an entity on the verge of independence.

Now Babylon -- Iraq itself -- is helping to arm the very nation that will one day, should Jeremiah's prophecy come true in out time, overwhelm and defeat her. Perhaps the Iraq of that time will not be run by al-Maliki, but by radical Islamic jihadists bent on attacking and destroying their neighbors, including Kurdistan.

Jeremiah saw the Medes rise as a great military power, capable of defeating the Chaldeans. Are we witnessing that rise now, in our time?  Will the Peshmerga become a formidable modern fighting army?

Kurdistan's female fighters

The BBC published a story 15 July 2014 at www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east/ describing how the Kurdish Peshmerga security forces have within their ranks elite units of highly trained female fighters.

At a military facility on the outskirts of Sulaimaniya, BBC reporter Shaimaa Khalil met with members of one of these all-female units, as they prepared to go to the frontline of a simmering conflict with Muslim jihadist terrorists from the Islamic State (IS) insurrection in Iraq and Syria.

The unit commander, Col Nahida Ahmed Rashid, told Khalil the unit was formed in 1996 to "fight loyalists of former President Saddam Hussein", and is made up of several hundred fighters, all volunteers.

"They've been trained with SWAT teams and with the special forces. Some have already fought alongside their male colleagues on the frontline and I'm sending others to Kirkuk soon," Khalil quoted Col Rashid as saying.

Kurdish forces have moved into areas of north-western Iraq abandoned by the Iraqi army during the advance of Islamist insurgents led by the Isis (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) group over the past month.

It appears Kurdish power is growing. Will Jeremiah's prophecy of Kurdish dominance over Iraq prove true here in our time?

Jeremiah the prophet saw three "nations" of the "Medes" joining together to attack and defeat the army of the Chaldeans: "Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz." The Kurds are the descendants of the Medes, and they are scattered over three regions, Anatolia, Iraq and Iran. "Minni" is the land of the Mannaeans, who lived in upper Mesopotamia, today northern Iraq. Ashkenaz would have been better translated as "Adiabenes", an ancient tribe whose capital city was Arbela, today known as Irbil or Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, and the provincial capital of the Kurds who are of Persian or Iranian origin.

The Iraqi and Iranian factions of the Kurds, who once battled each other, are now joined in ruling the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq under the Kurdistan Regional Government. This leaves the western, or "Ararat" Medes, the Kurds of Syria/Turkey, needing to join the others in order to fulfill the prophecy.

Will this help offered to the Syrian Kurds be the mechanism by which the three factions finally join as a great "nation of the north", capable of "draw(ing) up battle lines" as Jeremiah foresaw, to overrun Babylon and defeat their armies?

Kurds threaten to retaliate against Iraqi forces if attacked

Jamie Dettmer, in an article at Voice of America on July 9, 2014, wrote: "Kurdish leaders cautioned Baghdad they will order their Peshmerga fighters to retaliate if Iraqi security forces launch any strikes on Kurdish-controlled territory."

According to Dettmer, the warning came after the Iraqi military over the weekend shelled Tuz Khurmatu, a town 80 kilometers south of Kirkuk, leaving four people dead, including a 12-year-old child.

Kurdish Peshmerga fighters seized Kirkuk and surrounding towns when government forces fled Kirkuk in anticipation of an ISIS militia offensive against the area.

Iraqi officials claim the air raid was a mistake, and that the strike was meant for a neighboring town occupied by Sunni jihadists. Kurds dismiss the claim that the airstrike was a mistake, and have positioned themselves to be able to defend Tuz Khurmatu from either Sunni militants or the Iraqi army.

"This is the second time in less than a month that the Iraqi air force has targeted Kurdish Peshmarga bases and civilians," said Jabar Yawar, a spokesman for the Peshmerga Ministry in Kurdistan.

Jeremiah the Hebrew prophet predicted a war between the "Medes", who are today the Kurds of Kurdistan, and the "land of the Chaldeans", which today would be recognized as the country of Iraq.

With each incident, the fracture between al-Maliki's central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government grows larger, and open conflict becomes more and more likely, fulfilling the 2,600-year-old prophecy.

Maliki attempts to blockade Kurdistan international flights

In an intimidation move reminiscent of the communist blockade of Berlin in the early '60s, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has warned international airlines to cease their flights in and out of Iraqi Kurdistan, according to a July 10, 2014 article by Bestun Kakayi of BasNews, writing from Baghdad.

Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
In another July 10, 2014 article at BasNews, from Washington, Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in an interview last Saturday with CSPAN, is cited as saying she thought the Kurds were rightly concerned about Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki's policies and failure to form an inclusive government.

"(Maliki) postpone(d) and fail(ed) to come up with the agreement about the allocation of oil revenues, something the Kurds were rightly concerned about," she is quoted as saying, and, according to the article, his failures contributed to the breakdown in dialogue and mistrust between the central Iraqi government and the Kurds of the autonomous Kurdistan region.

Amazingly, rather than focusing his attention on countering the insurgency in his own region, al-Maliki is lashing out at his fellow nationals to the north, the Kurds of Kurdistan region, ensuring the collapse of his tenuous hold on Iraq unity.

This helps to set up the scenario of armed conflict between the two regions, as described by Jeremiah the hebrew prophet. The "spirit of the kings of the Medes", the leadership of the Kurds, will rise to lead the nations of "Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz" -- the three regional factions of the Kurds, Syrian/Turk, Iraqi and Iranian -- into battle with the "land of the Chaldeans", modern-day Iraq.

Whether that battle is between Kurdistan and al-Maliki's government, or between Kurdistan and a re-constituted Iraq under ISIS, remains to be seen. Either way, the "Medes" invade, soundly defeat and plunder the treasures of the land of Babylon, if the fulfillment of Jeremiah's prophecy is coming true here in our time.

Kurds to boycott cabinet meetings

IN an Associated Press (AP) article posted at abcnews.go.com/International July 10, 2014, the author, Qassim Abdul-Zahra of the AP, touches on the "already testy relationship" between Iraq's Kurdish minority and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, reporting that the Kurds have declared their politicians will boycott Cabinet meetings.

In retaliation, authorities in Baghdad suspended all cargo flights to the Kurdish region.

Zahra writes that, while ties between the two parties have "long been strained", the latest Sunni militant offensive has seemingly "altered the power dynamics", with the Kurds having taken advantage of the chaos to "push into disputed territory, including the oil-rich area of Kirkuk, and to move closer to a decades-old dream of independence."

According to Zahra, those moves have "infuriated" al-Maliki, who accuses the Kurds  of aiding and protecting the Sunni insurgents. In response, Kurdish President Mossad Barzani's office issued a statement saying al-Maliki "has become hysterical and has lost his (mind)."

At this point, no matter which side takes control of Iraq, whether Sunni extremists or al-Maliki, there will be nothing but animosity, mistrust and irreconcilable differences remaining between Iraq and the Kurds of the north.

And so the scenario for the battle, predicted by Jeremiah, between the "Medes" of the north -- the Kurds of Kurdistan -- and the army of the "land of the Chaldeans" -- modern-day Iraq -- seems to be already set.

First the cities burn, then the country is abandoned by the reconstructionists, and then the war. Iraq will be defeated by the Kurds, and the Kurds will plunder her treasures. Then the flood, then the drought, and finally, uninhabitable desolation.

It is decreed by the prophet.

A good time to start learning Kurdish

An article at the Israeli news site haaretz.com by Zvi Bar'el published Jul 6, 2014 suggests now might be "a good time to start learning Kurdish."

Bar'el describes how, while Iraq is battling Sunni militants, the Kurds of the northern region have been building huge shopping malls, high-rise residential buildings and airports, a "sign of the enormous prosperity that has been sweeping over the Kurdish district since 2003."

Bar'el also describes the tremendous oil wealth under Kurdish lands, and the agreements being fostered between the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) and its neighbors, such as Turkey and Israel. However, as Bar'el points out, such independent arrangements have "started a stormy political war with the Iraqi government."

READ MORE HERE...

KRG President Massoud Barzani, who rules Kurdish lands with his nephew Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, recently said that a referendum on independence for Kurdistan could occur within a matter of months, stating that, as Bar'el put it, "independence was a natural right of the Kurdish people."

Bar'el notes that Turkey, once vehemently opposed to Kurdish independence, may have gone through a "historic turnabout." Huseyin Celik, a spokesman for the ruling political party in Turkey, stated recently, "If Iraq is divided and it cannot be avoided, they [the Kurds] are our brothers."

In a startling revelation, Bar'el concludes his article by citing the position of the Syrian Kurds: "Salih Muslim Muhammad, head of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party -- which controls Syria's Kurdish region -- [...] established an unofficial autonomous Kurdish region in Syria..."

While Bar'el doubts Muhammad "will want to unify with the Kurdish region in Iraq", the idea that this could even be a possibility has incredible prophetic implications, as Jeremiah's prophecy of doom on the "land of the Chaldeans" sees three "nations" of the "Medes" -- who are today the Kurds of Kurdistan -- rising together to battle the Chaldeans -- modern-day Iraqis.  While Barzani and his former rival Jalal Talabani, who represented the Iraqi and Iranian factions of the Kurds, had set aside their differences to form a coalition government under the unity Kurdistan flag in 2003, the third faction, the western Syrian/Turkish Kurds, the Median nation of "Ararat" mentioned in Jeremiah's prophecy, has yet to join their Kurdish brethren in a call for a unified independent nation.

Could this article by Bar'el be revealing the beginnings of the joining of the three nations of the Medes, the Ararat, Minni (Mannaeans) and Ashkenaz (Adiabenes), the Anatolian, Mesopotamian and Persian arms of the nations of the Kurds?

Is Jeremiah's prophecy of doom on Babylon coming true in our time?

If the cities if Iraq burn, and the reconstructionists abandon her in admitted failure and frustration, look for a coming war between whatever is left of Iraq and her neighbor to the north, the coalition nations of the Medes, the Kurds of Greater Kurdistan, the Median factions of Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz -- Anatolian (Syrian/Turkish Kurds), Mesopotamian (Iraqi Kurds) and Persian (Iranian Kurds).
