As part of their psychological war to create a medieval-style caliphate, the Islamic State [IS] has released a new shocking video showing scenes of mass executions, warning Iraqi soldiers and others who dare to resist that they will be rounded up and killed.

The video shows IS fighters sweeping through a town, standing over dozens of terrified Iraqis, and leading soldiers to a pit in the desert and murdering them one by one.

If the IS militants succeed in taking over Iraq from the Maliki government, the land of Babylon will be controlled by men who rule through terror, mayhem and murder, who hate the Zionist state of Israel with every fiber of their being.

The judgments of Jeremiah's prophecy leading to complete desolation of the land of the Chaldeans are brought upon Babylon as a vengeance for the sake of Israel.

"The noise of battle is in the land, and great destruction. How the hammer of the whole earth has been cut off and broken! How Babylon has become an object of horror among the nations!... The LORD has opened his armory and has brought forth the weapons of his indignation, for it is a work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans...

"Pile her up like heaps and utterly destroy her. Let nothing be left to her. Put all her young bulls to the sword, let them go down to the slaughter! Woe be upon them, for their day has come, the time of their punishment... I will repay Babyon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea for all their evil they have done in Zion before your eyes, " (Jer 50:22-27; 51:24).

Invasion, capture, punishment, burning, abandonment, war with the 'Medes', plundering, flood, drought, eventual desolation, an uninhabited wilderness, an object of horror among the nations.

Invasion, capture and punishment are completed. When the cities of Iraq start burning, the rest of the judgments are fated to be completed in their order.

In God's eyes, those Chaldeans left in Iraq as the judgments flood over them, deserve what they get. As this video documents, who can argue?

Is it time for Rojava and Kurdistan region to unite?

Bashdar Pusho Ismaeel, writing July 27, 2014 from London for Rudaw.net, the Kurdish online news outlet, asks the question, "Is it time for Rojava [Syrian Kurdistan] and Kurdistan region to unite against a common enemy?"

Ismaeel describes how the Kurdish People's Protectoin Units (YPG) in northeastern Syria have "engaged in furious battles against IS militiamen across the areas in Syria under Kurdish control", pointing out that the areas are "home to some of Syria's largest oil fields." But now the militants are returning to Syria with "significant booty from their Iraq conquests, including Humvees, tanks and artillery," along with millions of dollars in funds.

With the break out of civil war, Syria Kurds seized the opportunity to announce self-rule across three cantons. Almost immediately, the IS jihadists attacked the Kurds, and have continued the assaults. The victories in Iraq have allowed them to accelerate their attacks.

According to Ismaeel, "there could be no better time for the Kurds to unite and protect the Kurdish population in Syria and also preserve hard-fought Kurdish self-rule."  Ismaeel argues that if Rojava falls to IS, Erbil could be next.

The hebrew prophet Jeremiah predicted the rise of the Medes out of three regions, "Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz", becoming a "horde of great nations" out of the north of "the land of the Chaldeans" which would "draw up battle lines" against the land of Babylon, and defeat and plunder her.

Minni and Ashkenaz, better translated Mannaeans and Adiabenes, comprise the regions of the Medes -- now known as the Kurds -- occupying lands associated with northern Iraq and western Iran. The Iraqi and Iranian Kurds have joined together to form the Kurdistan Regional Government in northern Iraq. Ararat represents the area of eastern Turkey/northeastern Syria. In other words, Rojava, "the land of the sunset" -- western Kurdistan.

If the Syrian / eastern Turkish Kurds unite with the Iraqi/Iranian Kurds, the fulfillment of the rise of the "spirit of the kings of the Medes" of Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz" will have been accomplished, so as to set up the "land of the north", capable of doing battle with the Iraqis in a future conflict.

The last Christians in Iraq

Lela Gilbert of Fox News writes in an opinion piece published July 22, 2014 at FoxNews.com that "frightened Iraqi Christians by the thousands" have fled their ancient Iraqi homeland over the weekend after the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group announced Friday afternoon that local Christians must either "convert to Islam, pay an exorbitant Muslim tax or leave the city."

If they did not comply by noon on Saturday, July 19, there would be "nothing for them but the sword" according to Gilbert's quote of the announcement.

Gilbert writes: "Most of the Nineveh Plain's Christians... had already fled to Erbil and other destinations in Kurdistan before ISIS's recent declaration... now the rest of the refugees -- many of the last Christians in Iraq -- have joined them."

"Many Christians interviewed expressed a sense of utter abandonment and desolation," Gilbert writes, in quoting a report from the New York Times. "They remarked that the sound of church bells mingled with the Muslim calls to prayer... 'would likely never be heard again.'"

How prophetically-fulfilling can one article get? Jeremiah's prophecy of doom on the land of Babylon -- modern-day Iraq -- calls on the people of God to "flee from the midst of Babylon, and each of you save his life! Do not be destroyed in her punishment, for this is the LORD's time of vengeance; he is going to render recompense to her... (She) will be desolate forever," (Jer 51:6,26).

Almost exactly seven years ago, on July 27, 2007, it was reported in Time magazine that the "last eight Jews of Baghdad" remained in desperate conditions, after hundreds of thousands of Jews left Iraq beginning in 1948, with the founding of Israel. In November 2011, even those last "seven remaining Jews in Baghdad" were in "immediate danger" according to an article at the UK's Daily Mail, as they had been named by WikiLeaks.

And so Jeremiah foretold this event: "'In those days and at that time... the sons of Israel will come... They will ask for the way to Zion, turning their faces in its direction; they will come that they may join themselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten... Wander away from the midst of Babylon and go forth from the land of the Chaldeans... For behold, I am going to arouse and bring up against Babylon a horde of great nations from the land of the north, and they will draw up their battle lines against her... Chaldea will become plunder; all who plunder her will have enough,' declares the LORD," (Jer 50:4-10).

European Parliament gives tacit nod to Kurdish independence

In an article found at Rudaw.net on Kurdish and Kurdistan news by Deniz Serinci, published 17/7/2014, dateline COPENHAGEN, Denmark, the author reports that the "European Parliament gave a tacit nod to Kurdish aspirations of independence on Thursday, when for the first time its motion over the Iraq conflict did not stipulate that the country must stay together."

In the past, resolutions by the EU MPs had always stressed that Iraq's "unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity" were essential for stability in the region.

Serinci's article asserts that the United States, France, Italy, Britain, Turkey, Jordan, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates "are among states that have assured (Kurdistan Regional Government) officials they would show understanding, should Kurdistan declare independence."

British MP Nadhim Zahawi, according to the article, believes that, since the fall of Mosul and about a third of Iraq to jihadi-led insurgents, Kurds "now occupy a new world, and 'there is no going back.'"

Jeremiah's prophecy foresees a time when the Medes, who are now known as the Kurds of Kurdistan, would rise again as "a great nation" north of the land of the Chaldeans -- modern-day Iraq -- and "draw up their battle lines" against the land of Babylon, and defeat her army and plunder her "treasures."

With Kurdish independence looking more and more like a real possibility, the stage may be set for this next great judgment to occur on the land of Babylon.

Luke Harding, war correspondent for The Guardian, filed a report 16 July 2014, posted at www.theguardian.com , detailing the differences he found in a recent visit to Iraq Kurdistan from his last visit in 2003, eleven years ago, just before the US invasion of Iraq.

According to the report, he "finds a self-confident region transformed by oil money."  As Harding writes, "(Kurdistan's) capital, Irbil, is a haven of religious tolerance and relative safety... If there is a success story in Iraq, it's here... What has transformed Kurdistan's fortunes is oil."

Iraqi-born Luv, 25, says she will not be intimidated by death threats from Islamist militants because of her video, but says she will "risk it all" to help push for an independent Kurdistan, according to a Reuters news report found at the Turkish news site hurriyetdailynews.com .

Kurdistan's female fighters

The BBC published a story 15 July 2014 at www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east/ describing how the Kurdish Peshmerga security forces have within their ranks elite units of highly trained female fighters.

At a military facility on the outskirts of Sulaimaniya, BBC reporter Shaimaa Khalil met with members of one of these all-female units, as they prepared to go to the frontline of a simmering conflict with Muslim jihadist terrorists from the Islamic State (IS) insurrection in Iraq and Syria.

The Peshmerga say they are determined to protect Kurdistan and the Kurdish people

The unit commander, Col Nahida Ahmed Rashid, told Khalil the unit was formed in 1996 to "fight loyalists of former President Saddam Hussein", and is made up of several hundred fighters, all volunteers.

"They've been trained with SWAT teams and with the special forces. Some have already fought alongside their male colleagues on the frontline and I'm sending others to Kirkuk soon," Khalil quoted Col Rashid as saying.

The women will be part of a mission to secure the city of Kirkuk and its surrounding oil fields

"They've taken up arms and gone to battle to protect Kurdistan, but also to say that there's no difference between men and women," Col Rashid says.

Looks like the Kurds are serious about defending their homeland. My guess is any Iraqi soldiers or IS rebels who take on these Peshmerga fighters will be running into the teeth of the tiger.

Is a new day dawning in Iraqi Kurdistan?

Voice of America writer Jeffrey Young reports from IRBIL July 14, 2014 on the amazing transformation of Iraqi Kurdistan since his last visits to the region in 1991, 2004 and 2005. Young writes of the capital city Irbil: "The difference between then and now is astonishing -- a transformation one could not believe a decade ago.  The rough-hewn city of ages past is being overtaken by the glint of glass and bright stainless reaching skyward. It's everywhere one looks."

Young concludes his brief travelogue with this observation: "Atop the city stands the Citadel, a fortress perhaps 4,000 years old. And atop that edifice flies a huge Kurdistan flag, its sun radiating both the warmth of the people here, and their aspirations for a day when the flag will rise above a state of its own."

If Young is correct, that one day soon the Kurds will declare their sovereignty over a nation of their own, the stage will be set for Jeremiah's prophecy to come true in our time: the re-birth of the nation of the "Medes", and their ascendancy over and defeat of the Chaldeans, the modern-day Iraqis.

But first the fires burning the cities of Babylon, and then the abandonment of the pitiful land of the Chaldeans by the occupying reconstructionists in admitted failure to "heal her."  Jeremiah, is Babylon burning yet?

Kurds hope oil boom will fuel prosperous independent future

Inside the lobby of Kurdistan's parliament, flanked by guards in traditional baggy trousers, is a giant portrait of Mustafa Barzani. The Barzanis have been fighting for Kurdish independence since the 1880s. They battled the Ottomans, the British and Baghdad. In a colourful life, including exile in Iran and the Soviet Union, Barzani tried to establish a Kurdish state. He died in 1979, in the US. Now, it seems, his moment has finally arrived.

On one floor, technocrats are discussing how to manage Kurdistan's enormous oil wealth. On another, the referendum announced last week by Barzani's son, Massoud, the current president of Iraqi Kurdistan, who asked the parliament to set up a new election commission. The vote – to be held later this year or early next – will determine whether disputed regions taken last month by Kurdish troops should join Kurdistan, and sets the stage for Kurdistan's exit from a crumbling federal Iraq.

"A greater Kurdistan is the dream of every Kurd. But for now we want to set up a state in this country," said Dr Farsat Sofi, an MP from Barzani's dynastic Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP). He added: "We never wanted to be in Iraq in the first place. It's been forced upon us." Sofi said the door was closing on agreement with Nouri al-Maliki, the prime minister in Baghdad, and his Shia-dominated government. "If he continues like this we will use this right to self-determination," he said.

If the central government fails to grant satisfactory concessions to Sunnis and Kurds, the Kurds will push for sovereignty and independence. The Kurds are serious, and the international community must adapt to this emerging reality.

The author of this op-ed piece, Zalmay Khalilzad, is the president of Gryphon Partners, and was the United States ambassador to Iraq from 2005 to 2007. He had worked closely with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, of whom he said, "I know that he will stubbornly resist attempts to replace him." This is why Khalilzad is leaning towards an independent Kurdistan, and recommends the U.S. strengthen its ties with this soon to be sovereign entity, which will "serve American interests down the road."

This emerging independent Kurdistan would fulfill the role of the nation of the "Medes" in Jeremiah's prophecy of doom on Babylon, as the Kurds are able to claim direct descent from the Medes.

Khalilzad's article is full of first person insight, and explains the relationship and cause of fracture between the Kurds and the current Iraqi government. It is worth a read.

Oil production from the Kurdistan region of Iraq increased by more than 50% last month, despite violence in the country’s north and as logistical problems at the port of Basra cut exports from the south.

The shifting nature of Iraq’s oil sector reflects political developments in the country. In a bid to gain greater independence, the Kurdistan Regional Government has taken advantage of its relative stability to increase oil exports in the past two months, infuriating Baghdad which claims sovereignty over the country’s natural resources.

Jeremiah the Hebrew prophet saw the nations of the "Medes" - today the people known as Kurds - rising up as a great nation capable of battling and defeating the armies of the Chaldeans, today's Iraqis.

When this blog was begun in 2006, it seemed impossible that the beaten down and victimized Kurds could ever be in a position to attack and defeat the new Iraqi army trained and supplied by the Americans. Yet here today in 2014, we see the Iraqi forces fleeing from ISIS rebels without even engaging them, and the Kurdish Peshmerga forces re-capturing oil fields and Kurdish-populated towns with little resistance.

And now the Kurds control their own oil production, export and revenues from the sale of Kurdish oil, with production skyrocketing.

The Kurds are developing into what Forbes calls a formidable "oil power." It no longer seems so improbable that they could not only defend themselves against Iraqi attack, but could one day overwhelm, defeat and plunder the "land of Babylon", just as Jeremiah prophesied 2,600 years ago.

Kurdish fighters moved into the oil-rich city of Kirkuk last month

Kurdish peshmerga forces seized control of production facilities at the Bai Hassan and Kirkuk oil fields in the north of the country on Friday.

Kurdish MPs have also withdrawn from Iraq's central government.

They did so after Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki accused the Kurds of harbouring extremists.

Kurdish forces have moved into areas of north-western Iraq abandoned by the Iraqi army during the advance of Islamist insurgents led by the Isis (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) group over the past month.

The Kurds have since declared plans to hold a referendum on independence in the areas seized, escalating tensions with Iraq's central authorities.

In September of 2013, VICE News crossed the border into Syria's Kurdish region to document the YPG's counteroffensive against the jihadists, who had struck deep into rural Hassakeh in an attempt to surround and capture Ras al-Ayn.

Syrian Kurds repel ISIS attack on Kobane

A report at rudaw.net, a Kurdish media outlet, written by Mutlu Civiroglu, claims about 200 fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) had been killed in a recent offensive against a Kurdish-held area of northern Syria, according to Kurdish officials.

ISIS forces last Wednesday attacked villages west of Kobane using tanks and other armoured vehicles captured from the Iraqi army in the fall of Mosul in northern Iraq.

Three cantons of northern Syria were declared autonomous by Syrian Kurds last year as ISIS rebels fought with Syria's Bashar al-Assad regime. The Kurds refer to their region as Rojava, which simply means "the West", as in Western Kurdistan. The area is also called Syrian Kurdistan.

Rojava is defended by the People's Protection Units (YPG), local militas recruited by local leaders.

Jeremiah foresaw three nations of the Medes -- now called Kurds -- as drawing up battle lines against the land of the Chaldeans. After decades of battling each other, the Iranian and Iraqi factions of the Kurds finally consolidated their power under the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and control the northern provinces of Iraq.

What is missing in the scenario is the western Kurds, the Turkish/Syrian Kurds, the "Ararat" Kurds. If they were to join the coalition of Kurds, the three "nations" would then be unified, fulfilling the prophecy.

With the break up of Syria, the stage is set to allow them to join their Kurdish brethren. The KRG has announced support for the Kurds of Rojava.

Will the current fighting in Syrian Kurdistan result in this unification of the nations of the Medes? Are the current events in Iraq/Syria the fulfillment of Jeremiah's 2,600-year-old prophecy?

Erbil ready to help Syrian Kurds

Erbil says is ready to help Syrian Kurds 
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Spokesman stated the region is ready to apply all its capabilities to defend Syrian Kurds.

Releasing a statement, Omid Sabah, said Erbil is ready to help Syrian Kurds against the attacks of the militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS).

“We tell all our Kurdish brothers and sisters in western Kurdistan (Syria Kurdistan) that we will use all our capabilities to help and support you and we will do whatever needed,” the statement said.

The statement come at a time that the ISIS attacks on Syria Kurdistan has increased in the recent days, especially on Kobani canton, one of the three cantons Syrian Kurds have established.

Meanwhile Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) military branch Chief Murat Karayilan warned days ago about the situation in Kobani, asking all Kurdish parties to rush to help the canton.

Jeremiah the prophet saw three "nations" of the "Medes" joining together to attack and defeat the army of the Chaldeans: "Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz." The Kurds are the descendants of the Medes, and they are scattered over three regions, Anatolia, Iraq and Iran. "Minni" is the land of the Mannaeans, who lived in upper Mesopotamia, today northern Iraq. Ashkenaz would have been better translated as "Adiabenes", an ancient tribe whose capital city was Arbela, today known as Irbil or Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, and the provincial capital of the Kurds who are of Persian or Iranian origin.

The Iraqi and Iranian factions of the Kurds, who once battled each other, are now joined in ruling the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq under the Kurdistan Regional Government. This leaves the western, or "Ararat" Medes, the Kurds of Syria/Turkey, needing to join the others in order to fulfill the prophecy.

Will this help offered to the Syrian Kurds be the mechanism by which the three factions finally join as a great "nation of the north", capable of "draw(ing) up battle lines" as Jeremiah foresaw, to overrun Babylon and defeat their armies?

Kurds threaten to retaliate against Iraqi forces if attacked

Jamie Dettmer, in an article at Voice of America on July 9, 2014, wrote: "Kurdish leaders cautioned Baghdad they will order their Peshmerga fighters to retaliate if Iraqi security forces launch any strikes on Kurdish-controlled territory."

According to Dettmer, the warning came after the Iraqi military over the weekend shelled Tuz Khurmatu, a town 80 kilometers south of Kirkuk, leaving four people dead, including a 12-year-old child.

Kurdish Peshmerga fighters seized Kirkuk and surrounding towns when government forces fled Kirkuk in anticipation of an ISIS militia offensive against the area.

 Iraqi officials claim the air raid was a mistake, and that the strike was meant for a neighboring town occupied by Sunni jihadists. Kurds dismiss the claim that the airstrike was a mistake, and have positioned themselves to be able to defend Tuz Khurmatu from either Sunni militants or the Iraqi army.

"This is the second time in less than a month that the Iraqi air force has targeted Kurdish Peshmarga bases and civilians," said Jabar Yawar, a spokesman for the Peshmerga Ministry in Kurdistan.

Maliki attempts to blockade Kurdistan international flights

In an intimidation move reminiscent of the communist blockade of Berlin in the early '60s, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has warned international airlines to cease their flights in and out of Iraqi Kurdistan, according to a July 10, 2014 article by Bestun Kakayi of BasNews, writing from Baghdad.

Writes Kakayi: "According to local Iraqi reports, the government in Baghdad has called on International Airlines like Emirates, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways to stop their flights to Kurdistan region as tensions between Baghdad and Erbil mounts due to the current Iraqi crisis."

In another July 10, 2014 article at BasNews, from Washington, Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in an interview last Saturday with CSPAN, is cited as saying she thought the Kurds were rightly concerned about Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki's policies and failure to form an inclusive government.

"(Maliki) postpone(d) and fail(ed) to come up with the agreement about the allocation of oil revenues, something the Kurds were rightly concerned about," she is quoted as saying, and, according to the article, his failures contributed to the breakdown in dialogue and mistrust between the central Iraqi government and the Kurds of the autonomous Kurdistan region.

Amazingly, rather than focusing his attention on countering the insurgency in his own region, al-Maliki is lashing out at his fellow nationals to the north, the Kurds of Kurdistan region, ensuring the collapse of his tenuous hold on Iraq unity.

This helps to set up the scenario of armed conflict between the two regions, as described by Jeremiah the hebrew prophet. The "spirit of the kings of the Medes", the leadership of the Kurds, will rise to lead the nations of "Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz" -- the three regional factions of the Kurds, Syrian/Turk, Iraqi and Iranian -- into battle with the "land of the Chaldeans", modern-day Iraq.

Whether that battle is between Kurdistan and al-Maliki's government, or between Kurdistan and a re-constituted Iraq under ISIS, remains to be seen. Either way, the "Medes" invade, soundly defeat and plunder the treasures of the land of Babylon, if the fulfillment of Jeremiah's prophecy is coming true here in our time.

ISIS extremists smash the gravestone of the prophet Jonah

Russian Times online reported July 9, 2014 that ISIS militants in Iraq have been "ruthlessly smashing centuries-old graves to pieces" in the city of Mosul.

Writes RT: "Iraqi authorities, according to the Daily Mail, have confirmed that one of the smashed graves belonged to the Prophet Jonah (Younis in Arabic), who is revered by Muslims and Christians alike and is best known as the main character of the Book of Jonah."

Now it is getting personal. God's prophets speak for God. Jeremiah said God was going to destroy Iraq, cutting it off to utter desolation. ISIS is giving him every reason to complete the destruction. 

Kurds to boycott cabinet meetings

IN an Associated Press (AP) article posted at abcnews.go.com/International July 10, 2014, the author, Qassim Abdul-Zahra of the AP, touches on the "already testy relationship" between Iraq's Kurdish minority and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, reporting that the Kurds have declared their politicians will boycott Cabinet meetings.

In retaliation, authorities in Baghdad suspended all cargo flights to the Kurdish region.

Zahra writes that, while ties between the two parties have "long been strained", the latest Sunni militant offensive has seemingly "altered the power dynamics", with the Kurds having taken advantage of the chaos to "push into disputed territory, including the oil-rich area of Kirkuk, and to move closer to a decades-old dream of independence."

 According to Zahra, those moves have "infuriated" al-Maliki, who accuses the Kurds  of aiding and protecting the Sunni insurgents. In response, Kurdish President Mossad Barzani's office issued a statement saying al-Maliki "has become hysterical and has lost his (mind)."

At this point, no matter which side takes control of Iraq, whether Sunni extremists or al-Maliki, there will be nothing but animosity, mistrust and irreconcilable differences remaining between Iraq and the Kurds of the north.

And so the scenario for the battle, predicted by Jeremiah, between the "Medes" of the north -- the Kurds of Kurdistan -- and the army of the "land of the Chaldeans" -- modern-day Iraq -- seems to be already set.

First the cities burn, then the country is abandoned by the reconstructionists, and then the war. Iraq will be defeated by the Kurds, and the Kurds will plunder her treasures. Then the flood, then the drought, and finally, uninhabitable desolation.

It is decreed by the prophet.

A good time to start learning Kurdish

An article at the Israeli news site haaretz.com by Zvi Bar'el published Jul 6, 2014 suggests now might be "a good time to start learning Kurdish."

Bar'el describes how, while Iraq is battling Sunni militants, the Kurds of the northern region have been building huge shopping malls, high-rise residential buildings and airports, a "sign of the enormous prosperity that has been sweeping over the Kurdish district since 2003."

Bar'el also describes the tremendous oil wealth under Kurdish lands, and the agreements being fostered between the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) and its neighbors, such as Turkey and Israel. However, as Bar'el points out, such independent arrangements have "started a stormy political war with the Iraqi government."

KRG President Massoud Barzani, who rules Kurdish lands with his nephew Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, recently said that a referendum on independence for Kurdistan could occur within a matter of months, stating that, as Bar'el put it, "independence was a natural right of the Kurdish people."

Bar'el notes that Turkey, once vehemently opposed to Kurdish independence, may have gone through a "historic turnabout." Huseyin Celik, a spokesman for the ruling political party in Turkey, stated recently, "If Iraq is divided and it cannot be avoided, they [the Kurds] are our brothers."

In a startling revelation, Bar'el concludes his article by citing the position of the Syrian Kurds: "Salih Muslim Muhammad, head of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party -- which controls Syria's Kurdish region -- [...] established an unofficial autonomous Kurdish region in Syria..."

While Bar'el doubts Muhammad "will want to unify with the Kurdish region in Iraq", the idea that this could even be a possibility has incredible prophetic implications, as Jeremiah's prophecy of doom on the "land of the Chaldeans" sees three "nations" of the "Medes" -- who are today the Kurds of Kurdistan -- rising together to battle the Chaldeans -- modern-day Iraqis.  While Barzani and his former rival Jalal Talabani, who represented the Iraqi and Iranian factions of the Kurds, had set aside their differences to form a coalition government under the unity Kurdistan flag in 2003, the third faction, the western Syrian/Turkish Kurds, the Median nation of "Ararat" mentioned in Jeremiah's prophecy, has yet to join their Kurdish brethren in a call for a unified independent nation.

Could this article by Bar'el be revealing the beginnings of the joining of the three nations of the Medes, the Ararat, Minni (Mannaeans) and Ashkenaz (Adiabenes), the Anatolian, Mesopotamian and Persian arms of the nations of the Kurds?

Is Jeremiah's prophecy of doom on Babylon coming true in our time?

If the cities if Iraq burn, and the reconstructionists abandon her in admitted failure and frustration, look for a coming war between whatever is left of Iraq and her neighbor to the north, the coalition nations of the Medes, the Kurds of Greater Kurdistan, the Median factions of Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz -- Anatolian (Syrian/Turkish Kurds), Mesopotamian (Iraqi Kurds) and Persian (Iranian Kurds).

And so Sisi agrees with the prophet Jeremiah, who saw the Medes -- now known as the Kurds -- as drawing up battle lines as a nation to the north against the land of the Chaldeans -- modern-day Iraq -- and soundly defeating them and plundering their "treasures."

If the Kurds declare independence, the stage would certainly be set for this nation of the north, led by the "spirit of the kings of the Medes", to be in place, ready for the coming disaster of war foreseen by Jeremiah as one of nine judgments against "Babylon" leading to complete "desolation."

As Sunni fighters led by the jihadist group ISIS have pressed forward, capturing the Iraqi cities of Mosul, Tikrit, and Ramadi and encircling Baghdad, Iraq's Kurds have taken advantage of the chaos by expanding their territory and pushing for greater autonomy.

During the past month Sunni militants have spilled out of Syria, dissolved the Iraq-Syria border, and established an Islamic caliphate that straddles the two countries. The Iraqi army fled in the face of the Sunni advance, but Kurdish militia fighters repelled ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) at their borders. On June 12, Kurdish militias advanced, seizing oil-rich Kirkuk, a city at the edge of Kurdistan that Kurds claim as their own, but which the Baghdad-based government considers beyond Kurdish borders. Sitting atop an ocean of newly conquered oil fields and emboldened by the breakdown of the Iraqi state, Kurdish President Masoud Barzani declared that the Kurds would not cede their newly conquered territory. "We cannot remain hostages for the unknown … The time is here for the Kurdistan people to determine their future," he said.

This is a great article that points out there are 30 million to 35 million Kurds, a traditionally nomadic people "from the crossroads of Mesopotamia, Anatolia, and Persia, united by a common mother tongue..."

Jeremiah the prophet also classifies the Medes, today known  as the Kurds, into three regional groups: Ararat (Urartians) in eastern Turkey, Minni (Manaeans) of northern Iraq, and Ashkenaz (or better, Adiebenes) of northwestern Iraq/westernmost Iran, centered around Irbil, the current capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

These great nations, inspired by the "spirit of the kings of the Medes", would "draw up their battle lines" against the Chaldeans, and then overwhelm them and soundly defeat them, showing no mercy.

With Iraq now overrun by Sunni militants, the regime may soon change hands, and the Kurds, called Medes by Jeremiah, of the three regions of Ararat (Anatolia), Minni (Mesopotamia), and Ashkenaz (Persia), may soon declare independence, setting up a critical conflict between the two forces.

300 more U.S. troops headed to Iraq

WASHINGTON - The U.S. is sending another 300 troops to Iraq to beef up security at the U.S. Embassy and elsewhere in the Baghdad area to protect U.S. citizens and property, officials said Monday.

The new injection of manpower brings the total number of U.S. personnel sent to Iraq to deal with the recent crisis to approximately 800.

The State Department, meanwhile, announced that it was temporarily moving an unspecified "small number" of embassy staff in Baghdad to U.S. consulates in the northern city of Irbil and the southern city of Basra. This is in addition to some embassy staff who were moved out of Baghdad earlier this month.

Just when we thought we were out, we're back in, although we never really left, as the embassy staff was huge, and American contractors are still there in large numbers, continuing the work of "reconstruction."

It had seemed like the fulfillment of the Jeremiah 50-51 prophecy of doom on Babylon would be derailed with the pull out of all troops, since the fifth judgment is the announced abandonment of the nation in admitted frustration and failure -- "We applied healing to Babylon, but she could not be healed. Forsake her, each to his own country, for her judgment has reached to heaven...", but with the return of troops, there will continue to be a comprehensive U.S. presence in Iraq for the time being, making the fulfillment of that judgment possible once again here in this current situation.

But first, the cities must burn, as judgment number four. Then the nations become "exhausted" because of the fires, and the resignation that there is no hope to "heal" Babylon.

We await the fires.
